PRESS RELEASE:

Performance poet/author Tantra-zawadi, a 2020 Brooklyn Arts Fund grantee!

With great joy and gratitude, I am delighted to announce that I am a 2020 Brooklyn Arts Fund grantee for my forthcoming project “Black Power Baby Blues.”

“Black Power Baby Blues” is a one-woman, multimedia spoken-word performance inspired by my late father who spoke passionately about the blues and its impact on life in the deep southern U.S. This presentation dives into the legacy of the music he loved, and how it influenced me as a child of the pivotal Black Power Movement.

Yes, there will be original poetry, music and art, along with references to some of the most inspiring blues artists of our time!

Love and gratitude to my father who continues to inspire me, my family for their infinite support, fellow artists, supporters and friends who wrote letters or simply listened to my ideas and showed me love; especially The Senegal-America Project https://www.tonyvacca.com and Black Art In America https://blackartinamerica.com. Big thanks to the Brooklyn Arts Council and Brooklyn Arts Fund for this incredible opportunity to share my art in my hometown of Brooklyn, New York!

Stay tuned for updates. “Black Power Baby Blues” is coming your way in October 2020.
